To ensure the best possible results from your ultrasound, we recommend:

Pre-Visit Pharmaceuticals (PVPs) – “Chill” Protocol
Prescribed calming medications help the patient relax, making the visit gentler and more positive. This reduces anxiety and helps create a foundation for future low-stress veterinary visits.

In-Hospital Sedation
Even with PVPs, most pets will need mild sedation in the clinic. This allows the patient to remain comfortably still—especially when positioned on their back or side—so we can capture clear, accurate images quickly and safely.

Fear Free is a veterinary approach focused on reducing fear, anxiety, and stress in pets. 

Our goal: “Take the PET out of PETrified” and “Put the TREAT back in TREATment,” all while strengthening the human-animal bond.

Studies show Fear Free care leads to better experiences and outcomes for pets, pet families, and veterinary teams. Achieving this takes teamwork and open communication, but the reward is a happier, healthier pet—and a less stressful visit for everyone.

Before each scan, pet owners must complete and sign an ultrasound waiver. This form specifies the type of scan ordered by your veterinarian and the patient receiving it.

It also covers consent for sedation and the optional use of the pet’s image for social media &/or marketing.
