Forms / Resources

Ultrasound Waiver

Fountain pen to paper.

An ultrasound waiver must be completed and signed by the pet owner prior to each scan. This form outlines what type of scan has been ordered by the veterinarian and which pet the scan is ordered for.

Authorization for sedation and using the patient's image on social media or other marketing materials are also included.

Get the Most out of your Ultrasound

When a pet is scheduled to have an ultrasound performed, the following recommendations help us to obtain the highest diagnostic yield.

PVPs - The purpose of a "Chill" Protocol is to decrease anxiety, allowing our patient to be more relaxed and comfortable during visits. This facilitates gentle handling and helps prevent the escalation of fear and anxiety at future visits.

SEDATION - We will most often have to use In-Hospital Sedation, despite the use of PVPs.  This becomes necessary as the animal will need to be positioned on their back or side for an extended period of time. Obstacles like motion from heavy breathing or muscle tension (often from stress) can negatively affect the image quality.

Sedation will remove these obstacles and enable Franimal's to acquire quality diagnostic images safely and efficiently.

Fear Free Pets

Fear Free is the concept of practicing veterinary medicine that involves reducing feelings of fear, anxiety and stress (FAS) in our patients. It is a concept in veterinary medicine which aims to "Take the PET out of PETrified" and "Put the TREAT back into TREATment" all while maintaining and strengthening the human-animal bond.

Studies show that Fear Free methodology is effective at reducing fear, anxiety, and stress (FAS) in pets during veterinary visits, leading to better outcomes for the animals, owners, and staff.

Achieving this takes effort and requires active communication between the owner and the veterinary team, but the reward is a better experience and less stress for all involved — the pet, the owner, and the veterinary team — because they deserve it.
